Avoiding the Avoidance

Romy is having major emotional crisis so she figured she'd try and take her mind off... certain things and a certain someone. We'll see how that goes.  Dark things lay ahead, I'm sure of it.

Back From Outerspace

Romy and Sofie were AWOL for a while, trying to get rid of some evil curse plaguing their life. The curse is still there, their patience is slowly wilting but they've seen worse.
Sofie is wearing... coming later.

Romy and Sofie's Cabinet of Curiosities

Here's a new feature on Romy and Sofie: the Cabinet of Curiosities, where we introduce a few of our favourite things. Whether it'll be a montly, weekly, daily feature is unclear at the moment but keep posted.

Romy's Favourite Shiny Things
Because Romy never goes out without jewelry... even when she barely has time to get dressed up after inevitably oversleeping in the morning.  Most of her favourite baubles are family heirloom, but that doesn't stop her from lusting after some shiny new things (especially those she can't afford, unless she decides accessories take precedence over food).

So here are Romy's favourite jewelers:

Wright & Teague (Mayfair, London)
There's something very clean and sleek about their aesthetic, which is really refreshing, but at the same time very romantic and modernly quaint. The Medea Hera necklace alone is worth everything.  The Of Golden Sands ring is also magnificent, inscribed with a quote from the poeme Come Live With Me and Be My Love by John Donne.  But my favourite is the Pegasus ring, adorned with the winged horse of Greek mythology. It's also my favourite constellation. Oh and rest assured people, their diamonds are conflict free.

Pamela Love (NYC)
Those are definitely statement making, and maybe a bit of an acquired taste.  Wild nature at its best.  They don't do discreet that well, although work perfectly with both demure and scruffy attire.  It's probably not something I would wear to meet the in-laws for the first time, but then again, maybe it is.  The collection is raw and real, with a definite touch of natural sc
iences.  Whimsical fusing with science: now that's something I can relate to.

Me & Ro
Amazing jewelry with a social conscience. What else can we ask? The symbolism of Me & Ro is what first attracted me to their jewelry.  There's something to be said about wearing a protective prayer doubling up as a delicate bangle wrapped around your wrist.  And if spiritual enlightenment isn't something you're into, well at least you've got wickledly cool jewelry.  Real conversation opener.

Temple St. Clair
The Rock Crystal Amulet and Celestial collections are the most lavishly, opulently decadent thing ever.  If it were a dessert, it'd be a double cream, triple chocolate, caramel frosting cake.  Rich and bad for the (financial) health.  But oh, so worth it.  There's a bit of a magical and mystical flair about it, which appeal to my dreamer side (arguably my predominant side).

Zani Gugelmann
Simply beautiful.  The intricate details are just astonishing.  Elegantly opulent.

So... whoever wants to get into my good graces... take a hint.

Twice as good

Those of you who suffered/powered through mechanic physics are familiar with Newton's third law of motion which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This can explain Romy's sudden infatuation with pretty bows and flowy skirts and all things sugary.  Romy's forced to grow up and while she's mature enough not to roll on the floor, throwing temper tantrums, she's clinging with all her might to childhood.  Hence the decidedly 'little girl' outfit.
For the child at heart:
Read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Have a tea party
Bake cupcakes
Wear pink shoes
Buy cherry blossom fragrances

As for Sofie, well, the theme of the day was definitely grunger. But when you've got the most amazing boyfriend shirt in the whole wide world, you better flaunt it. Found somewhere in the men's section at Urban Outfitters, this shirt has saved Sofie from a few 'too tired to care what I'm wearing' morning. Paired with a sequined top, it's the perfect balance of masculinity and feminity.

But then both Romy and Sofie changed into some very warm clothes and took a stroll in the cold cold city.  Isn't it pretty though?

As promised...

Remember how Romy and Sofie went to their friend's birthday, which gave them an excuse to dress up?  Well here are the pictures.  The only thing is, the official photographers, being themselves involved in the planning of the birthday bash, weren't exactly free to help us immortalize Sofie wearing (for once) bright colours.  So there isn't as much details as usually, but bear with us--it was party time!

In the Pink Realm

Well Romy is in a girly mood.  It started with a quirky tea party and ended with a lovely headband with a bow half Romy's size (remember, she's very tiny).

A preview of Romy's tea party dress.  Very proper, very girly, and very odd.

Romy's new pink Converse.  Take a good look at them because they won't be staying pristine and un-romyfied for long.  She's thinking about painting white rabbits on them or something from the mind of Lewis Carroll.
The latest of Romy's projects.  It's extravagant, it's big and it's got a big pompom.  All the more reasons to love it.

Last night was a birthday party for a friend, which gave Romy and Sofie an excuse to dress up (not that they need any, but it's always good to have a reason to wear high heels or a bright pink shirt). Photos will come up, but they need to be pre-approved, of course.  No one has ever died from embarrassment, but Romy and Sofie could very well be the first ones.  So until then... Have a good day.

Cultural Corner: Montreal All-Nighter

Because life isn't just about fashion (gasp, we know, shocking) here's the first part of the Underground Society's (AKA Romy, Sofie and their friends) Adventures at the Montreal HIGH LIGHTS festival.  Spending an entire night running around in the freezing city isn't usually their cup of tea, but the All-Nighter is a special occasion. Apart from the fact that it's the night coffee shops make enough profits to last the year, it's also the perfect night to either discover new artists/photographers/designers, catch some offbeat exhibitions, listen to some indie-unsigned bands or, according to Romy's father, buy ecstasy from some unscrupulous, shameless dealers.  Now, drugs weren't on the agenda (don't worry daddy), but the Underground Society did manage to see some pretty interesting things (and we're not talking about the old crazy hippie-santa dancing on some techno beats).
More to come later. Have a good day!

Blue and Grey

Romy and Sofie went shopping today.  Thank God it was awfully cold, which put a damper on their "spending money" mood.  Their creative side, however, was not affected and while Sofie is busy painting the wall, Romy is busy knitting.  She also bought some modelling clay and if her last painting experience is any indication, expect clay-covered outfit in the future.  As for Sofie, you will definitely see her 'Wall-Art' in the next few days.

Today's outfits are all about variation on the blue/grey combination, for both Sofie and Romy.  And it wasn't even planned.  Which makes them think they're rubbing off on each other.  Whether or not it's a good thing is still unclear.  When two different kind of crazy get in contact, what happens?
